The story behind this photo

When we arrived in Death Valley, we had a list of spots we wanted to photograph, but one in particular stood out - Artist’s Palette.

We scouted it ahead of time and were amazed by the variety of colors and textures created by the mineral-rich rock. But we knew that come dusk, the scene would change completely.

There’s a narrow window after the sun drops below the horizon when the desert softens. The harsh contrast disappears and the colors, once washed-out, begin to reveal themselves - blues, purples, and subtle pastels accenting the contours of the hillsides.

We waited patiently as the crowds thinned and the overlook grew quiet again. Then the scene finally felt right.

This shot reflects that fleeting transition, when the desert can shift from hot and bright, to a calm, quiet palette of color.

fine art prints - ready to frame

All prints are made with acid free fine art paper and archival quality inks. Our trusted professional photo lab, right here in the U.S., produces every print to the highest standard, with accurate colors and materials made to last.

Prints feature a one inch white border around the image, providing maximum flexibility for custom matting and framing.

These photos are created with great care at every step, and ready to become a statement piece in your home.

During the Central Ohio Home & Garden Show, one 20" x 30" print of this image (the print physically on display at the show) is available at a special, discounted price.

Display prints are identical in image quality and paper to our fine art prints, but are mounted on 3/16″ rigid foam board and include photo hangers on the back for quick and easy display. Display prints must be picked up in person after the conclusion of the show on February 23.

choosing the right size

When choosing a size, please keep in mind that the final framed piece will be 1 - 2 sizes larger than the print itself. For example, a 16×24 print typically becomes a finished piece closer to 20×30 or larger once matted and framed.
